International Literacy Day

The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) celebrates International Literacy Day on September 8 every year. It calls attention to the need to eradicate illiteracy, one of UNESCO's primary concerns.

It is that time of year to celebrate International Literacy Day. The theme for this year is on Literacy teaching and learning in the COVID-19 crisis and beyond with a focus on the role of educators and changing pedagogies. The theme highlights literacy learning in a lifelong learning perspective and has a focus on youth and adults. .

Many of our local councils have events planned for this week. Please be sure to read your next 美姬社区Today where we will share some of the fabulous events held by our 美姬社区community.
