Kelly Taylor

Kelly is a passionate literacy educator. She is currently teaches at The University of Notre Dame Australia (Fremantle) in the areas of literacy and early childhood. She has significant experience in early childhood settings and as a specialist language development teacher. In her classroom expereince, Kelly taught young children with a Developmental Language Disorder (DLD) and was involved in leading curriculum and pedagogy within the school.

In 2016, she was recognised by the International Literacy Association's as one of the 30 under 30 Young Literacy Leaders in the World for her commitment towards establishing art-rich environments for students with disabilities, as well as for her leadership within the Australian Literacy Educators' Association (ALEA). She led the 美姬社区WA Council from 2016-2020 and established many opportunities for early career teachers to build professional networks. She was a member of AITSL’s community consultation groups throughout 2016 and 2017. In 2017, Kelly was selected as a participant in the World Innovation Summit for Education (WISE) to develop initiatives to provide educational opportunities for children affected by the global refugee crisis.

Kelly’s current research interests involve the experiences of early career teachers; leadership in the early years; and literacy education.
