For many years of my teaching career 美姬社区was a significant part of my professional life which encompassed Early Childhood education, Primary School Education, Special Education focussed on literacy learning, Literacy consultant, joint coordinator of the National English profile for Australian Schools and Primary School Principal.
I became a member of 美姬社区ACT then known as ACTRA in 1979 and a member of the executive in 1980. In 1984-85 I was President of ACTRA.
Following this I was ACT State Director for seven years, during which time I contributed to redefining the goals of the Association and changing the name to Australian Literacy Educators’ Association to encompass those goals.
In 1993 -94 I served as President Elect on National Council and in 1995- 96 it was my privilege to serve as President of ALEA.
