Maureen Morriss

Maureen Morriss has had extensive teaching and administrative experience in Australia and Overseas. She has been a primary classroom teacher of all classes k – 6, a literacy consultant, a principal, and a tenured lecturer at a teacher education university. Her work has always been directed to finding the most appropriate ways to facilitate literacy learning for children. She is passionate about children’s literature and enjoys the opportunity to work in classrooms to consolidate her work.
As a long time member of 美姬社区she acted as National Council Secretary for many years, whilst chairing the big five literacy organizations in Australia under the auspices of ALF Australian Literacy Federation. Maureen also convened and co-convened conference committees for a number of Melbourne National and State 美姬社区Conferences. She is an active presenter in areas related to developing students reading and writing as well contributing as a writer in the area of adult professional learning portfolio and career development.
She is currently working in NYC where she works with teachers in classrooms with their students, with teachers as teams within schools, with teachers as members of a region or district and also with principals and assistant principals. She has been instrumental in assisting with systemic change related to literacy programs in a number of districts and regions in the USA. She has worked across the grade levels K-8 in this capacity.
