The Australian Literacy Educators’ Association is pleased to recognise service to the Association and the pursuit of excellence in literacy education in Australia through our comprehensive Awards program.
Awards are granted at National and State level.
The Life Membership Award honours those members who have made a sustained contribution to the Association over an extended period of time, demonstrating excellence, commitment, diversity and continuity at the local, state, and national level in leadership, administration and the promotion of the aims and purposes of the Association. In addition the member will have also made some contribution to 美姬社区at the international level.
The nominee will have demonstrated the following:
The 美姬社区Medal recognises and honours those members who have made a considerable contribution to the Association. The member will have demonstrated excellence, commitment, diversity and continuity at the local, state and/or national level
The nominee will have demonstrated more than one of the following:
The 美姬社区Citation of Merit Award for Literacy recognises and honours an individual's outstanding contribution to literacy education over a sustained period of time.
The nominee will have demonstrated:
The 美姬社区Citation of Merit Award for Research recognises an individual's outstanding published research which contributes significantly to the advancement of knowledge in the area of language and literacy.
The nominee will have demonstrated:
The 美姬社区Doctoral Thesis Award recognises an individual’s outstanding doctoral dissertation (either PhD or EdD) that has had impact or has potential impact within the field of English Curriculum or Literacy Teaching and Learning in an area in the birth – Year 12 settings, teacher education or teacher professional learning contexts in Australia. Dissertations based on teacher education or teacher professional learning are permitted if the focus is on preservice teachers or teachers working within the field of English Curriculum or Literacy Teaching and Learning in an area in the birth – Year 12 settings in Australia.

The National Award for Service to 美姬社区recognises members who have provided extensive, sustained, and exemplary service to 美姬社区at a national level, demonstrating excellence and commitment to their role(s).
Nominations for this award are made by two members of National Council and approved by National Council.

The 美姬社区Special Services Award recognises and honours an individual member’s outstanding contribution to the aims and purposes of the Association at state and/or local level.
The nominee will have demonstrated:
The 美姬社区Local Council Recognition Award gives Local Council Committees the discretion to recognise a local 美姬社区member for their contribution at a regional level where that contribution does not fall within the criteria of other 美姬社区awards. The Award is presented at a Local Council or State event. Speak to your 美姬社区Local Council President if you would like to see someone recognised for their service locally.
Each year an 美姬社区prize, which includes membership to the Association is awarded to outstanding teacher education students in the final, core English or Literacy subject in their course.

The students eligible to enter come from pre-service teacher education courses and from collaborating universities. Local Councils may also choose to present an award to a post-graduate student. Any further specific criteria is to be negotiated with the partnership university. Nomination nformation should be submitted by the university to the Local Council or State Director, who will forward the information to 美姬社区national office for processing.
