National Awards Criteria & Application

 

See below the criteria and process to apply for an 美姬社区National Award.

Applications for all National Awards close on 31 March each year.

 

Nominations for 美姬社区National Awards

 

Individual 美姬社区members may be nominated by any two 美姬社区members by submitting the following:

1. Background information including -

• Name of the Award
• Name, home and workplace address, telephone and email details of the nominee
• Name, address, telephone and email details of the writers of the submission

2. A two page application which addresses the criteria for the nominated award
3. Nominee’s current CV
4. A statement of endorsement of the nomination from the State Director
5. For the 美姬社区Doctoral Thesis Award, provide the following additional documentation:

  • Current financial 美姬社区individual membership number
  • 300 word citation of thesis
  • Scanned copy of graduation parchment showing eligible dates
  • One chapter from the thesis or one published paper based on the thesis that the applicant believes best demonstrates the outstanding qualities of the overall thesis
  • Unabridged copies of two external examiners’ reports
  • A 500 word statement from one of the nominee’s research supervisors that supports the claim of impact or potential impact of the research.

Nominations for national awards should be sent here by 31 March each year for consideration for presentation of awards at the 美姬社区National Conference later in the year

Criteria for Selection

The nominee will have demonstrated the following:

  • A substantial contribution to 美姬社区over an extended period of time
  • Commitment, diversity and continuity in leadership at the local, state and national level of ALEA
  • Proven administrative skills at the local, state and national level of ALEA
  • Promotion of the aims and purposes of the Association at the local, state and national level.
  • Some international contribution to one or more of the following aspects of 美姬社区-
    • leadership
    • administration
    • promotion of the aims and purposes of the Association
Award entitlement
  • Certificate
  • Free membership to the association for life

 

Criteria for selection

The nominee will have demonstrated more than one of the following:

  • Commitment, diversity and continuity in leadership at the local, state and/or national level of ALEA
  • Excellent administrative skills at the local, state and/or national level of ALEA
  • Promoted the aims and purposes of the Association at the local, state and/or national level in continuous and diverse ways
  • Extended and active length of service as a member of ALEA

Criteria for selection

The nominee will have demonstrated:

  • An outstanding contribution to the area of literacy education
  • A contribution over a sustained period of time

Criteria for selection

The nominee will have demonstrated:

  • An outstanding ability to undertake research in a significant area of language and literacy
  • Evidence of recent publication of this research
  • That the research contributes to the advancement of knowledge in the area of language and literacy education

Criteria for selection

The nominee will have demonstrated:

  • Financial individual membership of 美姬社区at the time of nomination
  • Completion of a Doctor of Education (EdD) or a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) dissertation at an Australian university during the previous financial year (1 July - 30 June) as indicated by the date on the seal of the university graduation parchment (see timelines)
  • Impact or potential impact of the doctoral research within the fields of English Curriculum or Literacy Teaching and Learning in an area in the birth – Year 12 settings, teacher education or teacher professional learning contexts in Australia

Assessment Panel

A panel of 3 assessors will be formed as follows:

  • An 美姬社区‘Elder’ who is doctoral qualified with a reputation for high quality research
  • The 美姬社区National Council President or a nominated representative from the 美姬社区National Council who is doctoral qualified and deemed research active
  • An 美姬社区appointed Early Career Researcher who is doctoral qualified within the last 5 years, deemed research active, and an individual financial 美姬社区member

 

Criteria for selection

The nominee will have demonstrated:

  • A sustained contribution to the work of 美姬社区nationally over an extended period of time  
  • Promotion of ALEA’s vision, purpose, and mission though their role(s)
