Dr Nathan Lowien – Associate Editor

Nathan Lowien is a Lecturer in English Curriculum and Pedagogy in the School of Education at the University of Southern Queensland. His research investigates the interrelationship between language, literature and literacy in multimodal texts such as videogames, animated films and online advertisements. Nathan uses systemic functional linguistic and social semiotic theory and multimodal critical discourse analysis research methodologies. His research contributes to multimodal theory and the applied research field of English pedagogy. 
 
Nathan regularly attends and presents at the ÃÀ¼§ÉçÇøNational Conferences. He has made sustained contributions to ÃÀ¼§ÉçÇøthrough his roles as Treasurer and President of the Meanjin Local Council. Nathan has organised and hosted local and national Professional Learning Events to support educators to continue to enhance their knowledge of language, literature and literacy.
